Our work

Continuous Crystallisation

Intensified separation through continuous crystallisation comes with its own set of unique challenges. TNO is uniquely qualified to meet and eliminate those challenges with our expertise and extensive experience in the field. Fine chemicals producers look to us to accelerate market advancements and achieve improved production control and output in a variety of methods of crystallisation.

The movement away from batch processing and towards continuous reactors most certainly increases efficiency and reduces costs in the production of fine chemicals. But it also requires a 'first-time right' approach: the particles created must not only be pure in composition, but also have properties that conform to exact standards for size, shape and structure. TNO applies its extensive knowledge and expertise in this area to provide fine chemical manufacturers with the exact tools needed to get the most out of continuous crystallisation. New advancements in the crystallisation process can reduce costs and increase quality and control during the production of ingredients supplied to the pharmaceutical, food and household product industries. TNO's experience with this technology, coupled with our connection to the newest research available, make us the ideal partner to create particles that are consistent, pure, and physically precise.

Unsurpassed expertise

Of all the forms of intensified separation, TNO has the most knowledge and experience in the field of crystallisation. With a number of patents on methodologies and technologies, we offer a wide range of expertise in the fields of crystallisation, including HiGee, Template Induced, Electro/Plasma Spray and Print Nozzle Spray. The best opportunities, however, lie in the use of Pulsating Helix crystallisation, where we have patented innovations that are unique in the market. A recent project within the food industry involved we made use of an innovation in which Pulsating Helix Cooling crystallisation was implemented in order to crystallise fat particles into a unique structure and quality. This innovation, performing to the exact specifications of our client, altered the melting temperature of fat particles to produce a specific taste and texture experience as a result.

Productive partnerships

In addition to projects commissioned directly from chemical manufacturers, TNO has partnered with industry players and process equipment suppliers to a shared R&D programme focused on applying technology for process intensification in the chemical industry. Through business-to-business relationships, TNO helps connect our customers' ambitions and the tools they need to achieve them. In Continuous Crystallisation, TNO leads the industry in technologies and methodologies that create pure, reproducible particles to exact specifications. We save our partners time and money by providing the most innovative solutions possible. Companies interested in joining the collaboration or innovating on their own projects should get in touch with TNO. Our expertise in the field of Continuous Crystallisation can be put to work to solve any of our partners' challenges.
