Testing anti SARS-CoV-2 solutions

TNO opened a BSL-3 laboratory facility to perform virus inactivation studies on the SARS-CoV-2 virus. In the facility we offer a service to test disinfectants, antiviral surfaces and physical conditions for their virus eradicating efficacy in liquid environment and on surfaces.

Testing air-disinfection

The next step is to test air-disinfection by aerosolising the SARS-CoV-2 virus in a controlled way into the air. For this project we are interested in companies that are developing solutions for capturing and eradicating the virus in aerosol. In this research programme, there is still room for a few companies interested in testing their R&D solutions in a multi-client setup. This programme will help to provide the companies to prove their concept and/or claim for eradicating the properties/performance on airborne viruses.

Diagnostic corona test results within 1 hour

Using a test method adapted by TNO based on LAMP (Loop mediAted isotherMal amPlification), the number of intermediate steps is simplified and reduced, as is the amount of reagents required. TNO's LAMP rapid test makes it possible to determine locally and well within one hour whether someone is infected. You can wait for the result, as it were, whereas currently it can still take 24-48 hours. LAMP can also be conducted using materials produced exclusively in the Netherlands. The price per test is expected to be less than half that of the PCR test.
